Dominique Aegerter is the 2021 World Supersport champion! A third place during the second race in Argentina was more than enough to secure the title. It is the tenth World Supersport title for Ten Kate Racing and the eleventh in total. It is the first world title for the Dutch team as Ten Kate Racing Yamaha.
Spanish rider Dean Berta Viñales died on Saturday the 25th of September from injuries sustained in a multi-rider crash on the penultimate lap of the first WorldSSP300 race at Circuito de Jerez Ángel Nieto. Ten Kate Racing Yamaha extends its sincere condolences to Dean’s family, friends and the Viñales Racing Team. All track activities were cancelled for the rest of the day and further updates will follow.
Dominique Aegerter returns to Ten Kate Racing Yamaha at the World Supersport round in Jerez after a weekend of absence. For Galang Hendra Pratama it’s a track where he scored his first victory in the world championship. Aegerter begins the ninth round of the 2021 season with a 45-point lead in the championship.
Simon Jespersen ended his wildcard appearance with a strong second World Supersport race in Catalunya. The 20-year-old rider finished in fourteenth place. Galang Hendra Pratama couldn’t convert a good start into a good result and ended twenty-second. Dominique Aegerter still has, despite missing the races, a lead of 45 points in the championship.
