This weekend marks the third round of the FIM Supersport World Championship at the TT Circuit Assen. This is the home race for the Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team, as their base in Nieuwleusen is less than an hour away from the historic and legendary circuit.
With 85 points to his name after the race weekends in Australia and Portugal, Stefano Manzi arrives at the TT Circuit Assen this weekend as the World Championship leader representing the Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team. The Italian stood on the podium in Assen in both 2023 and 2024, and he will again be competing for top honours in the Netherlands this weekend to strengthen his position in the championship.
Teammate Yuki Okamoto faces a significant challenge, as he has never ridden at the TT Circuit Assen before. The Japanese rider won’t have much time to learn the flowing nature of the Drenthe circuit, but just like in Portimão, the key will be to make consistent progress throughout the race weekend.
In addition to the on-track action, Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing will also host various off-track activities. On Friday evening, the team will present the new plans for the Motonext project in their hospitality area, followed by a special VIP evening on Saturday night. Throughout the weekend, many guests and partners will be welcomed at the TT Circuit Assen to enjoy the spectacle in and around the WorldSBK paddock.
Stefano Manzi:
“It will be a special weekend for the whole team. Over the last years I enjoyed the track a lot, but the results haven’t been what we were hoping for. I don’t want to say too much and make predictions; I just want to enjoy riding and working with the team. Hopefully we can achieve a good result together, which will be great for them in their home race. Let’s get going!”Yuki Okamoto:
“Like Portimão, it will be the first time for me to ride in Assen. I am confident to be able to perform better than in Portugal, but it will still be a tough weekend. “It’s our home race, and of course, we’re going to put on quite a show again. It’s always special to race here, and we hope to make it a great weekend. The team is in excellent form, and we’ll come up with a plan to go on the attack. It will be our first time racing in Assen with the R9, so we’ll have to see how that goes. We’ve been able to score good results in the past races, so we’re confident we can do the same here.”
The race weekend at the TT Circuit Assen begins on Friday morning with a free practice session, followed by the Superpole session, which gets underway at 16:00 in the afternoon. On Saturday morning there will first be a warm-up session, followed by Race 1 over 18 laps which starts in the afternoon at 15:15. The same schedule applies on Sunday, with a warm-up session in the morning and Race 2 starting at 15:15.
Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing hoopt te schitteren tijdens thuisrace op zonnig TT Circuit Assen
Dit weekend wordt de derde ronde van het FIM Supersport World Championship verreden op het TT Circuit Assen. Dit is de thuisrace voor het Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team, aangezien de thuisbasis in Nieuwleusen op minder dan een uur ligt van het historische en legendarische circuit.
Met 85 punten achter zijn naam na de raceweekenden in Australië en Portugal arriveert Stefano Manzi dit weekend als WK-leider op het TT Circuit Assen namens het Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team. De Italiaan stond zowel in 2023 als 2024 op het podium in Assen en zal ook dit weekend weer meedoen voor de prijzen in Nederland, om daarmee zijn positie in het kampioenschap te kunnen verstevigen.
Teamgenoot Yuki Okamoto zal opnieuw een flinke uitdaging staan te wachten aangezien hij nog nooit eerder op het TT Circuit Assen heeft gereden. De Japanner zal niet veel tijd hebben om het vloeiende karakter van het Drentse circuit te leren, maar net als in Portimão zal het voornamelijk zaak zijn om gedurende het raceweekend veel progressie te boeken.
Naast de actie op de baan zal Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing ook veel activiteiten organiseren naast de baan. In de hospitality van het team worden op vrijdagavond de nieuwe plannen van het Motonext project gepresenteerd, waarna op zaterdagavond een speciale VIP-avond gepland staat. Gedurende het hele weekend zullen vele gasten en relaties ontvangen worden op het TT Circuit Assen waar ze kunnen genieten van het spektakel in en rondom de WorldSBK paddock.
Stefano Manzi:
“Het wordt een speciaal weekend voor het hele team. De afgelopen jaren heb ik erg genoten van het circuit, maar de resultaten waren niet zoals we hadden gehoopt. Ik wil niet te veel zeggen of voorspellingen doen; ik wil gewoon genieten van het rijden en het samenwerken met het team. Hopelijk kunnen we samen een goed resultaat behalen – dat zou geweldig zijn voor hen tijdens hun thuisrace. Laten we ervoor gaan!”Yuki Okamoto:
“Net als in Portimão wordt het de eerste keer dat ik in Assen rijd. Ik heb er vertrouwen in dat ik beter kan presteren dan in Portugal, maar het blijft een uitdagend weekend. “Het is onze thuisrace en daarbij gaan we natuurlijk weer een heel spektakel optuigen. Het is altijd speciaal om hier te racen en we hopen er een goed weekend van te kunnen maken. Het team verkeert in een uitstekende vorm en we zullen een plan maken om de aanval in te kunnen zetten. Het zal voor ons de eerste keer zijn dat we met de R9 in Assen rijden dus het zal even afwachten zijn hoe dat gaat. We hebben in de afgelopen races goed kunnen scoren dus we gaan ervan uit dat we dat nu ook kunnen doen.”
Het raceweekend op het TT Circuit Assen begint op vrijdagochtend met een vrije training waarna de Superpole sessie vrijdagmiddag om 16:00 uur van start gaat. Zaterdagochtend is er eerst nog een warm-up sessie waarna Race 1 over 18 ronden ’s middags om 15:15 begint. Op zondag geldt hetzelfde tijdschema met eerst een warm up sessie en Race 2 om 15:15 uur.
