After a break of no less than seven weeks, the FIM Supersport World Championship resumes this weekend. The fourth round of the 2024 season takes place at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, the home race of Stefano Manzi and title sponsor Pata.
The great weekend at the TT Circuit Assen is still fresh in the memory with a victory at home for Glenn van Straalen and the Dutch Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team. It has been long break but the team has not been sitting still, as a test was completed at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli a fortnight ago. The weather conditions there were not great but both riders were still able to put in quite a few kilometres there.
The fourth round of the 2024 season is going to take place at that same 4.226-kilometre Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli this weekend, a circuit with a long history in the World Superbike championship. The weather forecast looks good with temperatures well above 20°C and plenty of sunshine, which means all the ingredients are there for a nice and successful race weekend on the Italian east coast.
Stefano Manzi: “It has been a very long time but finally it is time to race again. Fortunately we were able to do a test two weeks ago in Misano and we tried a lot of different things. We were also able to find a good base setting so I cannot wait to start riding on Friday. Misano is my home race so it will be a special weekend, we will also have some surprises which will be super nice so I cannot wait to get the weekend started.”
Glenn van Straalen: “After this long break, it is finally time to race again. In the meantime we were able to test in Misano and that is definitely going to help us this weekend. It’s my teammate’s home race so all the frenzy I had in Assen is now on the other side of the pit box. I think it’s going to be another great weekend.”
Kervin Bos – Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing team manager: “We will resume the season after a long break which we took advantage of with a test and preparations for the remainder of the year. The whole weekend in Assen was a great success with the highlight of course being Glenn’s victory. He rode there with a special livery and also this weekend we will line up on the grid with something special, this time for Stefano and our main sponsor Pata. After the test at Misano we are well prepared so we are looking forward to attack again this weekend.”
The race weekend at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli starts with a free practice session on Friday morning followed by the Superpole session at 16:00 in the afternoon. After a warm-up session on Saturday morning, Race 1 kicks off at 15:15h in the afternoon. The same goes for Sunday with a warm-up session in the morning and Race 2 at 15:15h.
Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing klaar om seizoen te hervatten in Misano
Na een onderbreking van maar liefst zeven weken wordt het FIM Supersport World Championship komend weekend weer hervat. De vierde ronde van het 2024 seizoen vindt plaats op het Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, de thuisrace van Stefano Manzi en hoofdsponsor Pata.
Het geweldige weekend op het TT Circuit Assen zit nog vers in het geheugen met een overwinning in eigen huis voor Glenn van Straalen en het Nederlandse Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing. Een lange onderbreking volgde maar het team heeft niet stilgezeten met onder andere nog een test op het Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli twee weken geleden. De weersomstandigheden waren daar niet geweldig maar beide rijders hebben daar alsnog flink wat kilometers kunnen maken.
De vierde ronde van het 2024 seizoen wordt komend weekend op datzelfde 4,226 kilometer lange Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, een circuit met een lange historie in het World Superbike kampioenschap. De weersverwachtingen zien er goed uit met temperaturen ruim boven de 20°C en veel zonneschijn waardoor alle ingrediënten aanwezig zijn voor een mooi en succesvol raceweekend aan de Italiaanse oostkust.
Stefano Manzi: “Het heeft heel lang geduurd maar eindelijk is het weer tijd om te racen. Gelukkig konden we twee weken geleden testen in Misano en hebben we veel verschillende dingen geprobeerd. We hebben ook een goede basisafstelling kunnen vinden dus ik kan niet wachten om vrijdag te gaan rijden. Misano is mijn thuisrace dus het wordt een speciaal weekend, we krijgen ook een aantal verrassingen die heel leuk zullen zijn dus ik kan niet wachten om het weekend te beginnen.”
Glenn van Straalen: “Na deze lange pauze is het eindelijk weer tijd om te racen. We hebben in de tussentijd nog een keer kunnen testen in Misano en dat gaat ons komend weekend zeker helpen. Het is de thuisrace van mijn teamgenoot dus alle hectiek die ik in Assen had is nu aan de andere kant van de pitbox. Ik denk dat het weer een mooi weekend gaat worden.”
Kervin Bos – Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing teammanager: “We gaan het seizoen weer hervatten na een lange pauze die wij hebben benut met een test en voorbereidingen voor de rest van het jaar. Het hele weekend in Assen was een geweldig succes met als hoogtepunt natuurlijk de overwinning van Glenn. Hij reed daar met een speciale kleurstelling en ook komend weekend zullen we weer met iets bijzonders aan de start staan, maar nu dan voor Stefano en onze hoofdsponsor Pata. Na de test op Misano zijn we goed voorbereid dus kijken we er naar uit om komend weekend de aanval weer in te zetten.”
Het raceweekend op het Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli begint met een vrije training op vrijdagochtend waarna ’s middags om 16:00 uur de Superpole sessie verreden wordt. Na een warm-up sessie op zaterdagochtend gaat Race 1 ’s middags om 15:15 uur van start. Datzelfde geldt voor zondag met een warm-up sessie in de ochtend en Race 2 om 15:15 uur.
